Joan Boles Bowler, born in Mineola New York to John and Emily Boles, passed away in New Orleans at the age of 90 on July 12, 2017. During her life she married Joseph P. Bowler and raised five children: John (Myrna), Emily, Michael, Christopher (Lori), and Elizabeth. She attended Purdue University, and re-entered the workforce after her children were in school, managing a clothing store, working for financial institutions, and finishing her career at the National Finance Center, a division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Joan was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Joseph, her son Michael, and her seven brothers and sisters. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her four surviving children, their spouses, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, on Saturday, July 15, 2017, starting at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Notre Dame Hospice (online at http://notredamehospice-no.org/donate/) or to the National Hospice Foundation (online at http://www.nationalhospicefoundation.org).
