Arthur Cyril Short passed away on October 14, 2017 in New Orleans, LA at the age of 78, surrounded by his family. He attended De La Salle High School and was a lifelong resident of New Orleans where he served as an Official Court Reporter for Orleans Parish Criminal Court for 30 years. He also worked as a freelance court reporter and had his own court reporting firm, Shorthand Reporters. Arthur was a sports fanatic and a political enthusiast. He loved the city of New Orleans for its food, history and Saints football team. He was an amazing cook, being most well-known for his famous stuffed artichokes. Arthur made many lasting impressions during his life and is best remembered for his unique sense of humor and being a loving father and a generous and helpful friend to many.
Arthur was the beloved husband of Carol Lopez (Leff) Short, the loving Father of Sean Patrick Short and a loving Father to Jayson Leff and Amanda Leff. He is also survived by one brother, Roy E. Short (Joan); four sisters, Miriam Short Horn (Jerry), Alice Short Boudreaux (Eddie Perret), Irene Short and Adelaide Short; a host of nieces and nephews (50 more or less); dearest friends Sam Burke, Sal Cannatella, Judge Thomas A. Early, Judge Anthony J. Russo and Travis Ortiz as well as many more friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. William Short Farrell (Alice Horridge and William S. Farrell); his brothers, William Short, Jr., John Short and Joseph Short; and a nephew, William Short III.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, LA. on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at /1:00 PM.
