Yvonne Eumont Matulich

Yvonne Theresa Eumont Matulich passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in River Ridge with her devoted husband, Nicholas Samuel Matulich, Sr., by her side early in the morning on Saturday, January 19, 2019.
She was born March 11, 1930 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Lena Scariano Eumont and Clarence Yves Eumont, and grew up with her older brother Jack V. Eumont in the French Quarter then the St. Roch neighborhood. Yvonne attended Charles J. Colton School on St. Claude Ave., and graduated from John McDonogh High School at 16 years old. She worked for Ford Motor Company until she married her husband of 69 years, Nicholas S. Matulich, Sr. in 1949. Yvonne and Nick moved their growing family to River Ridge in 1957 after they built a home there, where she ultimately raised a large family of five children.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, Lena and Clarence Y. Eumont. She is survived by her adoring husband Nick; her five loving children, Nicholas S. Matulich, Jr. (Nancy), Christopher J. Matulich (Ellen), Kathryn M. Applegate (Fred), Kim M. Reggio, and Laurie M. Matulich; her four grandchildren, Dominique M. Meyer (Julien), John E. Paisant III, Kelli M. Bartlett (Mason), and Alyssa K. Matulich (Jacob); and her two great-grandchildren, Jacques P. Meyer and Charlotte A. Meyer; dear sister-in-law and brother Joyce and Jack V. Eumont.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, LA. on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 11:00 AM.
