William "Bill" Schule, Jr.

William “Bill” Schule, Jr. passed away peacefully on Monday, May 29, 2023. Bill was born on October 6, 1941, in New Orleans. He graduated from Holy Cross High School in the class of 1959. After graduating from high school, Bill enlisted in the Coast Guard Reserves and served for 8 years. In 1961, Bill married the love of his life, Dorothy “Dottie” Escude. Bill worked as an Estimator and Project Manager in the construction industry until his retirement in 2006. He was a faithful member of St. Mary Magdalen Parish and was awarded the St. Louis Medal for his volunteer work as an Extraordinary Minister, Usher, Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) Athletic Director, and Coach. He and his wife Dottie also received the Archdiocese of New Orleans Ray Mock Award for their tireless work and support for the CYO throughout their many years as dedicated volunteers. In their free time, Bill and Dottie enjoyed biking, and visited numerous Rails and Trails across the United States. Bill loved his family and was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His dedication to his family, his infectious sense of humor, and his warmth and kind spirit will forever be remembered by those who held him dear. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dottie Escude Schule, his children, Cindy and Rob Wooderson and Kenny and Sandy Schule, his grandchildren, Robbie and Laura Wooderson, Ashley and Jonah Keller, Kyle and Alyson Wooderson, Erica and Jameson Waggoner, Brittany and Vincent Orlando, and Bryce Wooderson, his great-grandchildren, Robert James, Eva, Thomas, and Charles Wooderson, Henry Keller, Emma Waggoner, Lena Orlando, and Amelia Wooderson, his brother, Gerard Schule and a host of family and friends. He was the son of the late William Schule and Rita Campo Schule. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70124 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until mass time. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, 5190 Canal Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70124.
