Tribute

William Louis Ollie’ III, 80, of Violet, LA, passed away on May 20th with his beloved family at his side.

Bill, as loved ones referred to him, was born on February 18th, 1942, to the late William and June Ollie’ in New Orleans, LA. He grew up on Olympia St with his brother Bob, spending their afternoons and weekends together at St Patrick’s Park. He landed his first job in New Orleans as a mechanic for Mosley’s Auto Service on Girod St., where he would work for over twenty years.

In 1958, he met Fannie Liotta, and they wed in 1960, going on to have three children, Darlene, Billy (Marla) and Robby (Julie), which they raised in Kenner on Delaware Ave. They were married for 31 years, until Fannie passed in 1991.

Bill’s career transitioned from the automotive world to life on the Mississippi River, as a mechanic for Cooper / T. Smith Stevedoring and Ports America. He would retire in 2002 and began enjoying the days on his boat, fishing with his sons and brother whenever he could.

He married Dolores Arabie in 2001 and they moved to Violet. Bill enjoyed their time together in the house they had built on South Lake Blvd. He also appreciated the moments spent with his stepdaughter Michelle (Derek), who then lived just down the road and stepson Ronald (Alexis).

Bill is survived by his wife, three children, brother, his brother’s family and his twelve grandchildren, Stefanie, William, Lauren, Brittany, Justin, Jenna, Joey, Kacie, Ronald, Cade, Jaycee, and Bella, as well as three great grandchildren, Landon, Masynn and Roman.
