William Patrick “Bill” Klotz, Sr., a loving husband and father, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2022, at the age of 91. He was born in New Orleans La. on November 26, 1931, to Mary and Albert Lee Klotz.
Bill was a lifelong resident of Metairie, La., beloved husband of 64 years to Marilyn Brunies Klotz, loving father of William Patrick Klotz, Jr. (Suzy), Warren Michael Klotz (Michelle), Mary Klotz Melito (Michael) and John Holton Klotz (Ashley), adoring grandfather of Garrett Klotz, Mitchell Melito, Wesley Melito, Mason Klotz, Logan Klotz, Holton Klotz, Peyton Klotz and Jordan Melito Levenway (Adam) and great grandsons Luke Levanway and Lane Levanway.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Albert Lee Klotz, brothers Thomas Klotz, Albert Klotz and Calvin Klotz, and sisters Virginia Schackford and Alice Moisant.
Bill was a graduate of Warren Easton High School and Tulane University Business School. He served in the US Army for four years during the Korean War. During his time at Tulane, he was an outstanding track star setting multiple records in his mile and two mile races.
A devout Catholic and avid football fan, Bill and his wife Marilyn were often the life of the party, dancing the night away and they rarely missed a Saints or Tulane football game. Bill and Marilyn also loved to travel and never missed an opportunity to take yet another trip. Bill was a member of the Rotary Club of New Orleans and contributed to many philanthropic causes. Bill was also responsible for building the family home over 60 years ago (where he ultimately passed).
Bill spent his career as a marketing manager in the paperboard packaging industry working for Lengsfield Brothers and later Artistic Carton until his retirement five years ago. He also served on the board of Jefferson Federal Savings Bank until its acquisition by Iberia bank.
A loving and caring husband, Bill was truly a role model to his children and grandchildren.
His family will remember Bill for his kindness, sharp sense of humor and caring disposition.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, on Monday, December 5, 2022, starting at 9:00 AM, followed by a Mass in the chapel at 11:00 AM. A private burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
