Walter Joseph “Chick” Gonzales, a native of Arabi, LA died peacefully at the home of his niece in Galliano, LA on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the age of 94. “Chick” as he was known to his family was the son of the late Laster Leo Gonzales and Arthemise Marie Titus Gonzales.
Chick was a devoted and beloved husband of Lois “TD” Keyes Gonzales of New Orleans for 61 years until she preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his loving son, Walter J. Gonzales, Jr. as well as his brother Lester Gonzales. Chick is survived by his sister-in-law Doris Keyes Fleurichamp, and nieces Diane Fleurichamp Kiff, Brenda Fleurichamp Fernandez, Darlene Keyes Milliet, Jeanette Gonzales Ledet and generations of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Chick was an honest, hard working man who provided well for his family as an electrician. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 130 for 74 years. His kindness and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his loving family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, starting at 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
