Victoria Scardino Aucoin

Victoria Scardino Aucoin, of St. Bernard, Louisiana passed away peacefully Saturday, December 26th, 2020. Vickie was born December 31, 1944 in New Orleans, LA. She is the daughter of the late Joseph Scardino and Mary Scardino (Clement). She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years—Louis Gene Aucoin (d.2019). Vickie is survived by her son Ryan Aucoin (Millie Harris). She was "Maw-Maw" to two wonderful grandchildren who were the light of her life – Liam Natal Aucoin and Anna Grace Aucoin (Ryan and Jessica).

A lover of dance with a passion for cooking, Vickie spent her working years employed by the St. Bernard Parish Public School System. She was a resident of St. Bernard Parish until forced out by Hurricane Katrina, where she and Louis spent their days loving and spoiling Liam and Anna in Covington, LA. After Louis’ death in 2019, she returned to St. Bernard Parish to live out her days with Ryan and Millie. 421 days to be exact. Ryan and Millie did everything possible to provide a safe and loving environment for Vickie, who enjoyed the companionship of three very loving puppies (Mollie, Lucille and June). From daily walks to home cooked meals, to just spending time together, Vickie and Millie developed a special relationship filled with love.

Vickie had a special and loving relationship with her Daughter-in-Law, Jessica R. Aucoin. Jessica selflessly spent her time helping take care of both Vickie and Louis for years prior to their deaths.

Towards the end of her days, Vickie was cared for by the doctors and nurses of St. Bernard Hospital, Metairie Healthcare Center, Home Instead Senior Care and Mrs. Sangee Brown. She was among the few remaining members of her generation, but loved and spoke highly of her cousins, nieces and nephews. She now goes on to eternal rest, to be with her husband, her bothers (Christopher and Salvador Scardino), her parents and the rest of her family.

With all our hearts, we ask God to welcome you into Heaven with open arms. A private graveside service was held at Greenwood Cemetery.
