Shirley Jean Mortellaro

Shirley Patterson Mortellaro, 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 18, 2021.  She was born in Bessemer, Alabama to her dear parents, the late Jane Goforth Patterson and Arthur Frank Patterson. She later moved to New Orleans and then to Metairie. 

She was married to her beloved husband, the late Henry Anthony Mortellaro, Sr. for 54 years until his death in 2020. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother and father, husband, sister Linda Campora and brother Arthur Patterson.   

She was a homemaker and mother to her adoring children Sonia M. DeMary (Donald Ortego, Jr.), Lisa Mortellaro, Patricia M. Lassabe, Henry A. Mortellaro, Jr. (Jessica), Julie Brisset and Christian Hunter.  Her adoring grandchildren Joseph DeMary, Marcel Bourcq, Kayla (Sean) and Calvin Lassabe, Henry, III (Cadence), Bryce (Maddie), Joseph and Veronica Mortellaro,  Justin Munsch (Kaitlyn) and great-grandchildren Gabriella, Serinity and Asher.

She is also survived by her devoted sisters Martha Puls (Ed) and Patricia Shoemaker and sisters-in-law Bennierita Hebert and Patricia Nagel (Emile).

She also leaves behind her many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and great friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation Friday, August 27, 2021 at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124 from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M.

All guests are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
