Shirley M. LeBlanc, 79, died peacefully at her niece’s home in New Orleans on Friday July 6, 2018.
Born in Baton Rouge, Shirley lived most of her life in the New Orleans area. A devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Shirley was a stalwart caregiver of anyone who needed it. She is survived by her sister June LeBlanc Delacroix of Sugar Land, TX., three nieces, Michel Levy Boudreaux (Kevin) of Harahan, Darlene Delacroix Jelinek (Frank) of Sugar Land, TX. and Dianne Strasser Hecker (John) of New Orleans, six nephews, Clement P. Barbazon (Kathy) of Harahan, Chuck E. Delacroix (Jeff) of Houston, Scott E. Delacroix (Erin) of Covington, Irv E. LeBlanc (Leslie) of Peoria, IL., Brian J. Barbazon (Diana) of Wichita, KS., and Paul K. Levy (Heidi) of Indian Wells, CA, as well as three great nieces Angelle Barbazon Chase of New Orleans, Angelle Delacroix Ellerbee of Covington and Victoria Hecker of Philadelphia, PA., and eight great nephews, Dr. Scott Delacroix of Metairie, Brett Barbazon of Kenner, Charles Carlisle of Sugar Land, TX, Kristopher Levy of Aberdeen, NC, Travis Levy of Houston, TX., Daniel Hecker of Lacombe, and Jason and Jamie LeBlanc, both of Peoria, IL.
Shirley was the youngest daughter of Annie Herty LeBlanc and Irvin Ernest LeBlanc, Sr., who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were four other siblings, Gloria LeBlanc Levy, Irvin Ernest LeBlanc, Jr., Ernest Joseph LeBlanc and Audrey LeBlanc Barbazon Strasser, one nephew, Michael J. Levy, two great nephews, Ryan Delacroix and Gregory Delacroix and her loving beau Will Fabre.
Shirley was a strong, independent woman with much compassion. Aunt Shirley was the “fun” aunt to all her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She never took anyone for granted and she lived every moment of her life to the fullest. A graduate of John McDonough High School, Class of 1957, and Shirley was a long time employee of George Quartano, DDS and Terry Fugetta, DDS.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Interment immediately following at Greenwood Cemetery.
