Robert Anthony Ballestas passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022. Robert (Bobby) was born in New Orleans, LA, April 29, 1957, to the late Humberto Ballestas and Gloria Navarro Ballestas. Robert is survived by his wife of 18 years, Crystal Ballestas, and his children Raechel Ballestas Fisher, and Anthony Gary, and grandchildren Savannah Fisher, McKenzie Gary and Amare Gary, and his siblings Lida A. Wilson (Jim), Mary Ellen Ballestas, and Richard H. Ballestas. Robert was predeceased by his brother Ronald J. Ballestas.
Robert served his country as a Lieutenant of the National Guard, trained at Fort Sill, OK, and was called up to Norfolk, VA, for active duty during Operation Desert Storm. Robert received his degree in political science at Loyola University and a paralegal degree from the University of New Orleans.
From a little league baseball player at Wisner playground, to fishing and crabbing, to a proud member of the Who Dat Nation, to a devout Christian, Robert was the consummate New Orleanian. Music was part of his heart and soul and he enjoyed composing, performing, and being accompanied by his wife Crystal.
Family and friends are invited to memorial masses at St. Luke’s in Slidell on April 24 at 9:00 am, and April 30th at 5:00pm. The interment will be private at Greenwood cemetery.
