Ramiro Lopez, age 74, passed away peacefully at West Jefferson Hospital on December 17, 2020, due to COVID-19 complications. Ramiro was born on July 18, 1946, in Bruni, Texas and resided in Marrero, Louisiana.
After Ramiro graduated Bruni High school as valedictorian in 1964, he moved to New Orleans to attend University of New Orleans on an academic scholarship. After graduating from UNO, he became a board certified laboratory technologist. Later he was accepted into LSU Medical School and finished his first year. He loved working as a laboratory technologist and blood bank specialist. He worked at West Jefferson, Ochsner, Touro and University Medical Center, over his 50 year career.
Ramiro will be remembered by his family; a loving father to Jason Lopez (Elizabeth Bradford Lopez), Janine Olinn, and Jeffrey Lopez, deceased; a loving grandfather to Erin Fernandez, Lauren Lopez and Peyton Lopez. Former wife and friend Eileen Alkawhaldeh.
Ramiro was preceded in death by his parents, Nicolasa Del Bosque Lopez and Jesus Lopez, his sisters Isabel Barnes, Asunción Guerra, Maria Garibay, Juanita Ramirez, Eloisa Aleman and his brothers Jesus Lopez Jr., Juan Jose Lopez, Enrique Lopez. He was survived by sister Manuelita Acevedo, and brothers Roberto Lopez and Rogelio Lopez.
Ramiro would be described as a hard working man with a great sense of humor, infectious laugh and always willing to help others. He will be missed by his family, friends and coworkers.
Due to the infection rate and quarantine of many family members from Covid-19, a celebration of his life will be conducted at a later date.
