Welcome to the memorial page for

Patricia Alexander

September 3, 1932 ~ February 13, 2018 (age 85) 85 Years Old
Patricia Hoffman Alexander passed into eternal life on February 13, 2018.  Patricia was born in New Orleans, LA, on September 3, 1932, to Claire Daquin Hoffman and Emile W. Hoffman, Sr.  A lifelong Louisiana resident, Patricia graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1950.  Patricia was married to Albert Edward Alexander, Sr., in 1952, and they were blessed with four children:  Albert Edward Alexander, Jr., M.D.; the late David James Alexander, J.D.; Patricia Kathryn Alexander; and Richard Hoffman Alexander.  She was predeceased by her beloved parents, husband, and incomparable sister, Lorelei Hoffman Nall.
Patricia is survived by her brother, Emile Hoffman, Jr., her ten grandchildren, Albert and Luis Alexander; James, Olivia, and William Alexander; Kaylon Alexander; Matthew, Rachael, and Kathryn Jeanfreau, and Juliette Picciano; as well as by her great-grandson, Steven Leo Picciano; and her faithful canine companions, Daisy and Lady.
Patricia was deeply committed to her family, her community, and her faith. Whether she was sewing ballet costumes for her daughter or supporting her sons in the Boy Scouts, Patricia found great joy in raising her children.  In later years, Patricia constantly sought out opportunities to serve and encourage her grandchildren, as well.  From driving them to and from piano lessons or cheering them on at basketball and volleyball games, “GiGi” was a consistent and loving presence in the lives of her grandchildren, who will always remember the lipstick-printed kiss she left on every birthday card.
Throughout her years of raising children at home, Patricia also found many ways to generously serve others in need.  She and her mother would regularly visit elderly relatives in nursing homes, and Patricia loved caring for retired nuns at the end of their lives.  After her children were grown, Patricia worked for 20 years as a legal secretary.  During all of her adult life, she loved expressing herself creatively and was an apt seamstress, painter, and ceramist who created numerous award-winning pieces of art.
Patricia’s love of family and community was fueled by her love of God.  A faithful Catholic, Patricia devoted herself wholeheartedly to the service of the Church.  Patricia was a long-time member and past president of the Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary, as well as a member and past president of the Saint Louis Altar Society.  She also organized grammar school students in the Junior Altar Society, and in 1995, the Order of Saint Louis honored Patricia for her dedication to the Church.
In everything she did, Patricia brought vibrancy and dynamism.  She was an incredibly creative and industrious woman whose zeal for life will be deeply missed.  Her memory lives on through her family and friends who cherish the many happy memories they shared.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 901 Beverly Garden Drive, Metairie, LA 70002, on Saturday, March 3, 2018, starting at 10:00 am, and Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 am, in the same location. Internment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
