Mildred Marie Lombard Deibel, lovingly known to family and friends as Millie or “Granny,” went to reunite with her husband of 36 years, Robert James Deibel, Sr. on June 4, 2022. Millie was born on September 15, 1926, to the late Frank George Lombard and the late Mathilde Rulh Lombard. Millie was one of nine children born to Frank & Mathilde. Millie is survived by her three children: Barbara Deibel David (Joe) (deceased), Robert James Deibel, Jr. (Barbara), and David Allen Deibel (Jim), and sister-in-law, Dorothy Lombard. Millie is also survived by her three grandchildren: Michelle David Lane (Ronnie), Cherie David Himel (Cory), and Scott Michael Deibel (Emily), ten great grandchildren: Stephanie Lane, Kyle Lane, Kayla Himel (Quinn), Erik Lane, Kourtney Himel (Devin), Rachel Lane, Kassie Atchison Garofalo (Gage), Madeline Deibel, Cole Atchison, and Makenzie Deibel, and five great-great grandchildren; Blake Bennet, Brennan Giles, Chandler Lane, Kane Giles, and Easton Garofalo as well as dozens of nieces and nephews.
Millie was preceded in death by her brothers; Milton Lombard, Harold Lombard, Anthony Lombard, Myron Lombard, Frank Lombard, sisters; Lorrine Fazzio, Gloria Schlumbrecht, and Marion Tobelman.
Millie was an active member of the Harahan Senior Center and enjoyed many years of fun activities especially bean bag baseball where she won many awards and made many friendships. Millie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend. She will be greatly missed.
Family, friends as well as staff and members of the Harahan Senior Center are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, on Friday, June 10, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday, June 11, 2022, starting 9:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in the Chapel at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
