Michael Marion Salvatore passed away peacefully on July 8, 2017 at the age of 87.  Beloved husband of Gayle Ernst Salvatore for 63 years,  
predeceased by his father Mike Salvatore, his mother Theresa Miranda Salvatore, and his brother Joseph M. Salvatore.  He is survived by daughters Elizabeth Ann Salvatore (Morgan Gerald Earnest II) and Cynthia Salvatore Meurer (Kevin), also 7 grandchildren: Brooke Leigh Earnest, Arden Elizabeth Earnest, Aubrey Ann Earnest, Ashley Nicole Earnest, Katherine Elizabeth Meurer, Kevin Michael Meurer and Jennifer Ann Meurer.
A native of New Orleans and Metairie Louisiana, Michael graduated from Warren Eastern High School and from Tulane University in Mechanical Engineering.  He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and when he had free time he enjoyed playing baseball on the official Air Force Team.  Michael was employed by Freeport McMoran as a mechanical engineer with a specialization in the mining industry in Southern Louisiana for over four decades.  After retirement He enjoyed spending time with his extended family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the wake at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, N. O., La from 11:00am until the funeral service at 1:00pm on Thursday July 13, 2017.  Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family request donations to The Wounded Warrior Project.
