Passed away Friday May 20, 2022 after a brief illness.
She is survived by her husband Brandon Lee Deriso and her precious son Robert Wallace Deriso.
Also by her parents Anne Trapolin Britt and Michael E Britt, her sister Lauren Winter Britt, her grandmother Constance Crandell Britt of Austin TX, her aunt Kimberly Britt of Austin TX, her uncle Tim Trapolin, aunts Pat Trapolin Couret, and Jane Trapolin Oaksmith of Seattle WA, Wallace G Lane of NYC, and a host of cousins. She is also survived by her in-laws Timothy Wayne Deriso of New Orleans and Phyllis Ann Graham of Valdosta GA, and grandmother Sue Lane of Quitman GA.
Melanie attended Trinity Episcopal Elementary School and graduated from Dominican High School. She matriculated at Catholic University in D.C. and at Tulane University.
Melanie’s love of theatre and literature was evident throughout her life. She participated in theatrical productions beginning in grammar school through her college years wether it was back stage or front. Her love of literature became a career when she worked for years at Octavia books. She skillfully matched readers to books that met and expanded their interests. The decision to be a stay-at-home mom interrupted that career.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Private interment in Metairie Cemetery.
