Tribute

It is with great sorrow that the family of Maurice Sidney Falk, Jr., announces his passing on July 4, 2022, at the age of 54, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Sid was a lifelong resident of New Orleans where he attended St. Francis Cabrini Grammar School and Brother Martin High School. He attended college at the Louisiana State University and the University of New Orleans where he earned two degrees - a BA in Business, with a minor in History and a BS in Civil Engineering.

Sid worked for American Tile & Terrazzo, then was employed with the US Army Corps of Engineers for 8 years. For the past 15 years, Sid worked as a structural engineer with the US Department of Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management. During his time with the Corps of Engineers, he was deployed to disaster recovery missions for Hurricane Ivan and the LA Recovery Field Office for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. While at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, he was instrumental in promoting the development of US structural design standards for offshore wind turbines.

Sid had a passion for sailing and for many years participated in sailboat regattas on Lake Pontchartrain. He also loved to go fishing and, in the past, he loved golfing. He thoroughly enjoyed parades and marched in the St. Joseph's Day Parade and rode in parades as a member of the Krewes of Caesar and Thoth. In his free time, he loved hanging out and gaming with his friends and spending time with his family and his two beloved pups: Louis and Chanel. Sid was a devoted father who encouraged his children to follow their passions while also instilling a solid work ethic in school and all their endeavors.

Sid is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Tracy Fitzgerald Falk, and his two children: Kendall Mary Falk and Daniel Maurice Falk. Sid is also survived by his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Edward A. Falk (Donna), Regina Falk Martin (Clyde), Terri Falk Vititoe (Johnny), and Sharon Falk Cuccio (Michael), as well as many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Sid is preceded in death by his parents Elaine Braud Falk and Maurice Sidney Falk, Sr.
