Mary Bernadette Klotz was called to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 11, 2021. She was a daughter, a sister, a friend. A life too short, but a good one and one well lived. Many would say that Bernadette lived life on her own terms.
Bernadette is survived by her father, Albert Lee Klotz, Jr., her siblings Karen Klotz Clampitt and Albert Lee Klotz, III. Her niece, Colleen Leah Clampitt (Edward Thomas Garcia), and her nephew, Wesley Kyle Clampitt, will miss her. Bernadette is remembered also by her former spouse, Christian Hart, and her many friends and relatives. Bernadette is preceded in death by her mother, Angela Fasola Klotz, and her brother-in-law, Wesley David Clampitt II.
Bernadette was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, and lived in Metairie for almost all her life. She graduated from Dominican High School and the University of New Orleans with a B.A. in Theater Arts.
Bernadette had many careers but was most proud of her work in costume design and her ownership and management of several vintage clothing and jewelry stores in the French Quarter most notably Jazz Rags on Decatur Street.
Bernadette participated in the choirs at St. Ann Catholic Church and Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in the New Orleans area. As a youth, she had lead roles in musicals enacted at the NORD theater in New Orleans. She lived in Key West for a short time and enjoyed sailing.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, starting 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in the Chapel at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
