Marjorie Melancon Bourgeois

Marjorie M. Bourgeois, 57, resident of Westwego, Louisiana, departed this life on September 30, 2019 at 3:46 p.m. The final days of her battle were spent surrounded in the love and support of her family and friends, after a long fight with Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (formerly called Wegener’s). Marjorie was born on February 21, 1962 in New Orleans, LA. She was a dedicated dental assistant for Dr. Fredrick H. Gruezke D.D.S. for many years.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, Malvina “Bonnie” Benson and Curtis P. Melancon, her sister, Brenda Melancon, and her brother, Kenneth Melancon. She is survived by her adoring husband of 36 years, Corron A. Bourgeois, Jr.; her daughter, Wendy B. Volpi (Scott); her grandchildren, Emmalei and Ethan, along with four step-grandchildren, Calob, Kyleigh, Kyle, Cameron; her brother, Curtis P. Melancon, Jr.; her godchildren, Jamie Thompson and Jason Tully.
She loved doing crafts with her granddaughter and her wonderful friends in the WOW group and participated in their many outings and volunteer activities at Riverbend Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Marjorie looked forward to Saints season and cheering WHO DAT from Section 152 in DAT DOME. She was the best baseball Nana and shopping buddy. From cooking, vacations, concerts, to exploring new places to eat…Marjorie had a passion for life and strived to live life to its fullest with the people she adored. She gave and spoiled with everything in her heart.
There are no words to express how much she will be missed by her loving family, friends, and her three fur babies: Max, Collin and Roux. Her journey through this life may have been filled with hardship, but she inspired everyone around her to live their truth and to show love.
Please join us in celebrating Marjorie’s life in a Memorial Service at The Foundation Center at Lafreniere Park, located at 3000 Downs Blvd, Metairie, LA, from 6pm till 9pm on Friday, October 25, 2019.
