Marion Rita Roquevert Uzee

Marion Rita Roquevert Uzee, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on the evening of July 24, 2018 at Chateau de Notre Dame in New Orleans, LA. She was 88. Marion was born on December 31, 1929 in New Orleans. She was the daughter of the late August Jules Roquevert and Elizabeth Schindler Roquevert and the stepdaughter of the late Lucille Marguerite Andry Roquevert. She married her beloved husband, Louis Joseph Uzee, on May 11, 1963.  She is survived and missed by her beloved children: Louis Joseph Uzee, Jr. (Cathleen G. Uzee), Elizabeth Mary Uzee Sigler (Joseph R. Sigler), Peter Gerard-August Uzee (Sally L. Uzee), Ann Margaret Uzee O’Connell (Martin T. O’Connell, Ph.D.), and Rebecca Marion Uzee Perret, M.D. (Charles E. Perret III) and her beloved grandchildren: Conner J. Uzee, Brett J. Uzee, Sarah M. Uzee, Sage E. Sigler, Grace J. Perret, Amelia E. Perret, and Patrick U. O’Connell. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Joyce R. Smith, August J. Roquevert Jr., and Andry C. Roquevert and is survived by her sister, Lynn R. King. Marion was a graduate and valedictorian of McMain High School. She graduated from Tulane University and was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma, the National Honor Business Fraternity. She was employed by Volkart Bros. and Shell Oil Co. as an accountant.  She served in the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary as Treasurer and as an officer in the PTA’s of St. Francis of Assisi (Treasurer and Co-President), Mercy Academy (Treasurer), and St. John Vianney Prep (Co-Vice President). She served on the Board of the Council of Catholic School Cooperative Clubs (CCSCC) as Treasurer and various committee chairs. She was the honorary poet of CCSCC. She received the Order of St. Louis Medallion for Service in St. Francis of Assisi Parish as Lector and Eucharistic Minister there and at Covenant Nursing Home for many years.
She was a member of the Tulane Emeritus Club. The family would like to thank the staff at Chateau de Notre Dame for taking care of mom these past years.  
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 631 State Street, New Orleans, on Thursday, August 2, 2018, starting at 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery #2. In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred.
