Louis Emile Prosperie Jr.

On Friday, December 2, 2022, Louis Emile Prosperie, Jr passed away peacefully at his home in the arms of his family. Louis was born in Metairie, LA on May 7, 1953, to loving parents Doc and Josie as the youngest child of the family, brother to sisters Elena, Linda, and Cheryl. Louis, also known as Bubby, was a pillar in his local community. He owned Complete Auto Repair where many customers became family. While he was a lifelong mechanic, he never lost touch with his passion for exploring many professional paths. From real estate and commercial truck driving to snowball stands and baseball card trading, Louis was always learning and growing in new ways. Not only a collector of career experiences, but Louis was also well known as the ultimate collector! His museum-like home was his paradise filled with nostalgic relics from his childhood and young adulthood in addition to an array of notable, historic rarities. He was always on the hunt for the next big find for his collections, sporting the biggest smile when he finally landed whatever he had his eye on. However, no bigger smile came across his face than when he was enjoying his favorite sweets (most of all, coke icees!) or listening to his favorite type of music: Soul! As big as his collections were, his heart was even bigger and made of pure gold. His love for his family and children was unmatched and his love had no limits - dear friends became family. Louis’s example of kindness and playfulness mixed together was contagious and we will all continue to live a life inspired by Lou. Please join us in celebrating his life Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA. Visitation begins at 8:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. All friends and family are welcome to gather back in the Greenwood funeral home Boulevard Room to share hugs and memories.
