Louis Joseph Lorio

Louis Joseph Lorio Jr. passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 in Opelousas, LA at the age of 79. Louie was a native of New Orleans and the son of the late Louis Joseph Lorio Sr. and Eva Boissac Lorio.  He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 57 years, Jacquelyn Gannuch Lorio, daughters Dawn Lorio Beeson and Rhonda Lorio and grandfather to Courtney Lynn Beeson and Ashton Charles Beeson; brother and sister in law Rodney and Sandra Gannuch, cousins Alan and Delores Brooks, Nieces Laura McAllister and Brenda Means and Nephew Shane Credeur. He was predeceased by his cousin Alvaro Lorio. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School in 1957 and as a senior played football in the state championship and all star games. He attended Tulane University and Delgado Community College earning an electrical certification. He worked at several oilfield data companies most of his career and at Davida Dialysis Center after moving to the Northshore. Louie was a gentle, hard working, quiet man with a sense of humor who loved his family. He had a passion for country living, camping in his RV, shrimping during the season and traveling with his family. The family would like to thank the staffs of Forest Manor Nursing Home in Covington and Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas for taking great care of him for the last five years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation from 11a.m. until 1 p.m., Friday, May 18, 2018 at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, LA, followed by a Funeral Mass at 1pm. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
