Leroy "Lee" Joseph Aucoin

Leroy (“Lee”) J. Aucoin, 82 years old, began his journey in life in 1939 in New Orleans. His journey came to its end on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, surrounded by family at home, after a lengthy battle with dementia. He was predeceased by his parents, Sidney C. Aucoin and Dorothy T. Simoneaux; his stepparents, Clarence G. Simoneaux, Sr. and Nancy S. Delaune; his brother, Clarence (“C.J.”) Simoneaux, Jr.; his son, Darren (“Dee”) M. Aucoin; his grandchildren, Ryan J. Aucoin and Shelby E. Aucoin; and his nephew, Richard C. Arceneaux, Jr. He was the devoted husband of 61 years to Kathleen W. Aucoin. He was loving father of Lee J. Aucoin (Shawn), Sandi A. Broussard (Gabe), and Cindy A. Bodden (Tony), loving grandfather of Taylor A. Griggs (Josh), Madison K. Aucoin (Adam), and Aaron G. Broussard and a loving great grandfather. Lee is also survived by many nieces.

Lee was a life-long N.Y. Yankees and LSU Tigers fan. He had a passion for music, particularly from the 1950s era. He was a graduate of Redemptorist High School, LSUNO, and Loyola Law School. For many years, he was employed as an assistant Chief Administrative Officer with the City of New Orleans and retired in 1997. After retiring, he practiced law for several years with his law school classmate and life-long friend, R.A. Osborn, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, on Monday, April 18, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with mass immediately following the visitation. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery immediately after the mass.
