Lawrence M. Piglia, Jr., of West Frankfort, Illinois born on October 20, 1967 in New Orleans, Louisiana passed away unexpectedly at the age of 50 on September 29, 2018. He resided in Illinois for the past 24 years. Larry graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. Recently, he taught at Rend Lake College in Ina, Illinois. Larry loved life. He was a karaoke enthusiast, avid reader, loved role playing games and conversing about philosophy. Larry was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Carol Cooper Piglia, Step-Mother, Geraldine Ricks Piglia, maternal grandparents, Herbert and Ollie Cooper and paternal grandparents, John and Viola Piglia. Larry is survived by his “loving and dearest friend and partner, Amy Sileven”, his father, Lawrence M. Piglia, Sr., Amy’s parents, Dennis and Debbie Sileven and step-sister, Laura M. DuRocher. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass for Larry, Jr., on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1908 Short Street, Kenner, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 9:30am to 10:30am with the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30am. Father Richard Miles will Officiate at the Mass. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery immediately following the Mass. Greenwood Funeral Home and Parker Reedy Home in Illinois are in charge of the arrangements.
