Kathryn Lear Dorman

Kathryn Lear Dorman, of Metairie, LA, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at the age of 86. She was born in New Orleans, LA, on July 13, 1936. She is survived by her loving children Lori D. Matherne (Mark), Edward G. Dorman and Stephen A. Dorman. Preceded in death by her husband Edwin J. Dorman, Jr., daughter Lisa A. Dorman, her parents, Cecil H. Lear, Sr., and Theresa Mathes Lear; stepbrother Cecil H. Lear, Jr., and stepsisters Vivian Lear VanHorn and Edna Lear Cleland.

Mrs. Dorman graduated from Warren Easton High School. She worked briefly as a Secretary at New Orleans City Hall after her marriage prior to having children. She was an amateur bowler and bowled in many couples and women’s leagues over a 50 year period. She was also an avid Saints fan and attended home games for many years before retiring her season tickets to watch games at home with family and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend…always loving with her whole heart. She will be dearly missed.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3601 Transcontinental Dr., Metairie, on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at 12.00 p.m. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the World Central Kitchen, www.wck.org., or a charity of choice.
