Kai Yee Chin

Kai Yee Chin (63), passed away peacefully on Monday, November 13, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Gaye Stiglets Chin, his 3 children, Katie (Blaise), Kristy, and Kyle (Paige), and his 3 brothers, Kai Shun, Kai Man, and Kai Wing. Kai was also a doting grandfather to his grandsons, Brayden and Beckham. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shui and Tung Chin, and his two brothers, Kai Yiu and Kai Yen. He also leaves behind a host of dear family and friends.

Kai Yee was born in Hong Kong, China, on July 5, 1960, and migrated to The United States when he was just a young boy. He passionately worked as an Electrical Engineer for the Navy for over thirty years. In 1999, he became the proprietor of a Gretna staple, Common Grounds Café, where he met some of his best friends. In between working tirelessly to provide for his family, he enjoyed traveling the world and cooking for all of his loved ones.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, on Monday, November 27, 2023, starting at 11:00 AM, followed by Presbyterian Services in the Chapel at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
