Joseph Trenticosta

Joseph Trenticosta passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 13, 2023.

Joseph was preceded in death by his wife and great love, Bonita Quartana Trenticosta, and his seven siblings - Burnell, Dominic, Anthony, Tommy, Jenny, Rosemary, and Theresa. He is survived by his three children – Cynthia (Maryann), Nicholas (Susana) and Joseph (Susan); his grandchildren, Aija, Cecelia, Pilar, Miles, Cristoffer, Caroline, Elizabeth, and Meghan; his great-grandchildren Asiyah, Tallulah, Andre, Teddy, Lucy, Mary Elizabeth, Theo, Caio, Charlie, Rooney, Joseph, Naima and Isabella.

A native of New Orleans, Joseph was born on April 24, 1930 to the late Anthony and Margaret (Leahy) Trenticosta. Part of his childhood was spent in Waveland, MS. He graduated from Redemptorist High School in 1948, and married Bonita in 1950. He served in the US Navy Reserve. He spent his entire career at ILC, a subsidiary of Shell Oil Company in Jefferson. Joseph maintained life-long relationships. Until his last year of life, he regularly spent time with former schoolmates and colleagues. He was very active in the Little Farms Golden Age association and he was a committed parishioner of St. Angela Merici. He was a regular at Sunday dinners with the family and was adored by his many nieces and nephews.

Joseph will be remembered for his deep faith, his love of family, his kindness, and of course, his stories. He talked often about his childhood and expressed gratitude for having been raised in a loving Sicilian-Irish family. His family was blessed to have had him for so long. Joseph was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans on Thursday, March 16, 2023 starting at 11:00 am followed by a Mass in the Chapel at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Cypress Grove Cemetery.
