John N. Becker, Sr.

John N. Becker, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the age of 83. He was born on September 11, 1938, to the late Eugene P. Becker and Mary Zanca Becker

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Josephine Lamandre Becker, one brother, Eugene P. Becker, Jr. and two sisters, Mary Becker and Helen B. Owens, and grandson Robert Douglas Becker.

John is survived by two children, John N. Becker, Jr. (Deede), Giselle Catherine Becker, and grandson J. Nicholas Becker, III.

John graduated from John McDonogh and earned a Bachelor of Science from LSUNO with a minor in mathematics. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and retired as an Engineer with Bellsouth (AT&T) after 30 years and was also a member of the AT&T Pioneers.

In his early years John enjoyed gardening, playing checkers, chess, and playing the trumpet with his band at nursing homes and other volunteer establishments. He loved fishing and attending social events with his wife, friends, and family. John had a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Saturday, November 6, 2021, starting at 11:00 A.M. Followed by a Memorial Mass in the Chapel at 12:30 PM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
