Tribute

Jessie Delores Maxson Chase was surrounded by her loving family as she passed away peacefully at her home in Summerfield Retirement Community during the early morning hours on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Jessie was 86 years of age. She fought a long battle with Lewey Body Dementia.
Preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Joseph Clifford Chase, and her parents John A. Maxson and Alice Kessling Maxson of New Orleans, LA.
She will be sadly missed by her siblings; May Kinler of Slidell, LA; Francis (Jr) Goelz (Margaret) of Hammond, LA; Rita Vuljoin of Hammond, LA; and especially her loving children Col. John Clifford Chase, USAF, Retired (Darla) of San Antonio, TX; James Charles Chase (Susan) of Slidell, LA; and Judy Chase Bourgeois (James) of Madisonville, LA.
She was the loving grandmother to Jeremy Ory (Erica) of Jackson, MS; Stacey Chase Brooks (James) of San Antonio, TX; Sally Chase of Slidell, LA; Jill Bourgeois of Madisonville, LA; Danielle Chase Fall (Chris) of San Antonio, TX; and Jamie Chase of Slidell, LA.
She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren; Garrett Brooks, Courtney Brooks, Colby Brooks, Madison Chase, Kierra Bennett, Chase Ory, Sydney Chladek, Tyler Ory, Ella Fall, Joseph Chladek, IV, Liam Fall; and 1 great-great-grandchild; Anderson Payne.
Jessie was born in New Orleans and lived many years in St. Bernard Parish and the last 32 years in Slidell, Louisiana. She retired from USDA (Michoud) Dept. of Finance following 20+ years of service. Jessie was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church, Slidell, LA. She enjoyed playing cards with her lifelong friends, cooking for family gatherings, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
A special thank you to her personal caregivers for their kind and thoughtful dedication over the last several years, Debbie, Jill, Paulette, Jennifer, Patty, Sheila and Brenda, and to the kind staff of Summerfield Retirement Community and Passages Hospice.
Visitation from 9:00 AM till 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 444 Metairie Road, Metairie, LA followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA.
