Jacquelyn McCarthy Poche

Jacquelyn Rita (Mc Carthy) Poche' - peacefully passed on May 24th, 2021 in New Orleans, LA, aged 87 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents  Cluis Andrew and Rita Bernice (Dempsey) Mc Carthy and brother Cluis Joseph Mc Carthy as well as her husband of 59 years James Carol Poche'.  She is survived by her son Louis A. Poche' III (Mary Elizabeth Marino), grandson Eric James Poche' (Lauren Marie Doughty), and beloved great grandchildren Marion Halcyann and Daniel Louis Poche', Sister-in-law and close friend Mary Ellen Hotard Mc Carthy (Cluis), Cousin Brenda Ursula Mitchell Fenner (Charles), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law.

Jacquelyn was a graduate of Hotel Dieu School of Nursing (1955) and had a long career working as a nurse both in hospital settings as well as in home health. She maintained lifelong close friendships with her nursing school colleagues and inspired several of her nieces and nephews to enter the health care profession.

She was a talented artist and crafts person who enjoyed creating, sewing, and cooking for family and friends.  She also had a love for genealogy and leaves our family a treasure trove of information about our heritage and ancestors.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Friday, June 4, 2021, at 1:00 P.M., followed by a celebration of life gathering in the Boulevard Room at the funeral home.

Private interment in Greenwood cemetery will be held at a later date.
