Ivan B. Holtsclaw, Jr. passed in peace at Sanctuary At Passages Hospice on Saturday, December 30, 2017. He was 73. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan B. Holtsclaw, Sr. and Anita F. Holtsclaw; his sister, Sharon Holtsclaw; and his grandson, Benjamin Holtsclaw. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Holtsclaw; three children, David Holtsclaw, Devon Anderson, and Danny Holtsclaw; three stepchildren, Orele Fisher, Cher Jeffrey, and Harry Decossas, Jr.; six grandchildren, Heidi Frenzel, Brittany Dodson, Gene Inman, III, Morgan Holtsclaw, Hannah Holtsclaw and, Claudia Holtsclaw; two great-grandchildren, Eliza and Ridge Frenzel; and seven step-grandchildren, Peyton Fisher, Jarod Fisher, Nicholas Jeffrey, Emily Jeffrey, Hayden Decossas, Sophie Decossas, and Liam Decossas.
Mr. Holtsclaw was a retired Police Officer and retired after 28 years from the Kenner Police Department. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. A native of New Orleans and a lifelong resident of Kenner. He appreciated working out and eating good food. He had a passion for animals and enjoyed going to the park to feed the ducks.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, starting at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Our Lady of Divine Mercy Church, 4337 Sal Lentini Parkway, Kenner at 10:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
