With deep sorrow, love and profound gratitude we announce the peaceful passing of Isabelle (Issie) Cook Jordan Dufilho at her home in Metairie, Louisiana on Sunday October 17, 2021 at the age of 94. She was born on May 19, 1927 to parents Joseph Edward Cook and Mary Pisano Cook.
Isabelle was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and moved to Metairie, Louisiana in 1965 with her late loving husband Arthur Thomas Jordan. She worked for Hancock Whitney Bank for 30 years until her retirement in 1989.
Isabelle is survived by her daughter, Gayle Patricia Jordan; grandchildren, Gretchen Smith, Maximillian Leaming, Adrianne Bieller, Ingrid Leaming, Gabrielle Leaming and Ethan Leaming; nieces, Candy Creel and Ann Cook Hoffman; nephew, Kenneth Conway Cook; many great and great-great grandchildren and five loving stepchildren, Kathleen Dufilho Carter (David), Elaine Dufilho Milazzo (Tory), William Dufilho (Teri), Edward Dufilho (Arden) and John Dufilho (Janet).
She is predeceased by her parents; brother, Conway Joseph Cook (Beverly Mullen Cook); first husband of 24 years, Arthur Thomas Jordan (Gayle Patricia Jordan); second husband of 32 years, Lionel Leopold Dufilho and great-grandson, Stephen Phillip Maximus Amador.
Isabelle was a faithful parishioner of St. Louis King of France Church for 55 years, Meals on Wheels volunteer for 20 years until the age of 85 and Second Glance Resale Shoppe volunteer for the benefit of Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans for more than 5 years. She enjoyed joining her weekly prayer group at St. Angela Merici and playing bridge with friends. Raised in the same household as her hard-working and loving immigrant Sicilian grandparents, she led a disciplined life of fortitude and perseverance to create a principled and joyful life that can only be described as the American Dream. Isabelle was the matriarch of her family and will fondly be remembered for creating a loving home where all were welcome with open arms to celebrate their successes, give comfort in times of sorrow and provide encouragement to reach goals and dreams. She was an avid reader, world traveler, fabulous cook and gardener that made a point to enjoy and appreciate every moment God granted her. Humble, loyal and generous, Isabelle will be deeply missed by family and friends but will continue to inspire us to live as an example for others.
Loved ones of Isabelle would like thank granddaughter, Ingrid Leaming and great-granddaughter and best friend, Zoe Sayler for their many years of steadfast advocacy and devoted caregiving. Special appreciation to supportive caregiver and friend, Lucille McClain.
