He was a loving husband and father, who lost his fight against Pancreatic cancer.
He was born in New Orleans, LA to Douglas Landry Black and Inez Boudreaux Black. Started his career in the Air Force in 1979, married in 1982 to Kim Rose White. Had 2 children, Joseph Roland Black and Aurelia May (Black) Meyers, and 1 Grandson, Nicholas Sebastian Meyers.
After retiring from the military, he worked as a mechanic with Southwest Airlines, became a financial adviser for First Command Financial Services then he embarked on a new venture as a Field Engineer with a start up company Adicom Wireless. He found his niche as a Maintenance Manager with Metl-Saw a company that makes industrial saws for cutting metals.
He is Proceeded in death by his Father Douglas Black, Mother Inez Black, Brothers Douglas Black, Robert Black, and Sisters Emma Christina, and Maryellen Black.
He is survived by his Wife Kim Black, Son Joseph Black, Daughter Aurelia Meyers, and Grandson Nicholas Meyers, Sisters Jeanne Smith, Madelyn Turner, Carol Lapre and Inez Olasin, Brothers Kenneth Black, William Black, Claude Black, and Kevin Black.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Hope Mausoleum.
