At age 6, Glenda began at St. Michael Special School in New Orleans from which she later graduated. She then worked in the Joy Center, a vocational rehab center at St. Michael’s, until 2014. Glenda loved all her activities at St. Michael, especially the Fashion Show in which she modeled one of the garments that she made. One of Glenda’s greatest interests was Special Olympics, which she participated in track and field, bowling, and swimming. She really excelled in swimming, and received numerous gold, silver, and bronze medals in this sport. For many years, Glenda participated in Special Rollers Bowling Program in Kenner, and she especially enjoyed the annual award and family day event. Glenda was a member of the Jefferson Parish Recreation Department Pinnacles Club for adults, and participated in many of their programs and activities. One of her favorite activities of Pinnacles was the Mardi Gras Ball when she was selected for the court and also when she was selected to ride on the float in the Irish-Italian Parade in Metairie. Glenda was a very active member of We Care for Special People in Metairie, which provided social activities for her and her friends. She loved the We Care monthly dances because she loved to dance, and she enjoyed participating in the We Care Talent Show.

Glenda loved to travel, which travels included Pilgrimages to Lourdes in France and Fatima in Portugal in 1984 with her Mother and Grandmother Maw Al.

In 1994, Glenda was honored as a Goodwill Achiever by the Goodwill Industries Volunteer Services for her contributions and achievements in her community.
One of Glenda’s most cherished memories at home was working on her parents St. Joseph’s Altar, which she enjoyed making cookies, serving dinners, and participating as a Saint.
