George F. Nata, Sr., at the age of 76 with his family at his side peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 9, 2018. George leaves behind his children; Georganne Cook (the late Kenny), Russell Nata (Julie), and Nina Navis (Curtis). George was the proud Papa to Amanda, Emily, and George Nata, III, Kaitlyn Cook, Curtis, Valerie, and Gavin Navis, Ethan Nata, Tim and Gabriel Castjohn. He was the Great Grandfather of Edward, Michaela, and Jazmyne. He was the loving brother of Geraldine Jennings (the late Eddie), Reneldear Nata, Jr. (Carol), Joseph Nata, Sr. (Diane), Anthony Nata Sr. (Edith), and Janice Lee-Parrino (Ed). He leaves behind many nieces and nephews and daughter-in-law Kyndra Nata Alonzo.
George was preceded by his parents Reneldear and Antoinette Nata, his doting wife, Jeannette Trosclair Nata and his sons of the George Nata, Jr. and Christian Nata. George was also preceded by his beloved horse, Rehab.
George was a story teller, extraordinaire and a ladies’ man. He was the best Santa Clause ever. If he wasn’t spending time with his family, there was no other place George would rather be than the Casino. He was always chasing the Big Jackpot. George was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish and a resident of Slidell. George was retired from the St. Bernard Sewage and Water Board, but was most proud of being a retired St. Bernard Sheriff’s deputy.
The family would like to extend their many “Thanks” to Slidell Memorial’s 2nd floor ICU doctors and nurses for their incredible care and compassion. Also, to all who prayed for him, visited him, and provided love and support to his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of George’s life at Greenwood Funeral Home located at 5200 Canal Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124 on Monday March 12, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place following the celebration of life at Jefferson Memorial Gardens Cemetery in St. Rose, LA.
