Gelio D Castillo

Gelio "David" Castillo passed away on September 26, 2018, in New Orleans.  He was 81 years old.  David was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, in 1937, to Luis and Mercedes Castillo.  He emigrated to the United States in 1960.   He entered the U.S. Army and completed basic training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, in 1962, and subsequently served in the Army National Guard.  He was naturalized as a United States citizen in 1969.  David worked as a grain elevator operator at the Port of New Orleans until his retirement.  He died at his home in Mid-City where he was loved by his friends and neighbors.  Friends and relatives are welcome to attend a visitation and memorial service to be held on Friday, November 9 at Greenwood Funeral Home.  Visitation will begin at 4:30pm and memorial service at 5:30pm.  Greenwood Funeral Home is located at 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans.
