Tribute

Affectionately known as Frank, Honey, Dad, Daddy, Parran, Giz, Mr. O., Mr. Frank, Grampy and Pop Pop. He died peacefully on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. Frank was born September 1, 1931, in Garfield, New Jersey to Charles Olasin, Sr. and Anna Buscko Olasin and was the youngest of nine children. He was a graduate of Lodi High School and is a member of the Lodi High School Sports Hall of Fame. Frank married the love of his life, Irena “Jocko” Bazile, at the age of 23. They became pen pals after being introduced by her brother, Charlie, while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Frank was also a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals minor league team. He loved fishing, baseball, friends, travelling, casinos, playing card games with family, gardening, singing and especially family get togethers and martinis. He had a passion for cooking, owned his own business, Big 5 Auto Parts, with brother-in-law Charlie Bazile and after a long career at Delta Automotive he and Irena owned and operated “Jocko’s PoBoys” in Metairie for 8 years. Frank was a man of great faith and an involved parishioner and usher at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church. He took much pride in being a multi-gallon donor at EJGH Blood Center and loved his time as a member of the Wellness Center, including daily serenades to his many friends. He was a devoted husband of 60 years, father, uncle, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, godfather, and friend. Frank’s greatest accomplishment was the family he and Irena started many years ago.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Anna Olasin, siblings Charles Olasin, Jr., George Olasin, Anne Olasin Wink, John “Jinx” Olasin, Mary Olasin De Vuyst, Michael “Mike” Olasin, Emil Olasin, and Daniel “Dan” Olasin, wife Irena Bazile Olasin and daughter Kellee Olasin Chauvin.
