Elden Joseph Schulin

Elden Joseph Schulin passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018, at the age of 71. Beloved husband of Patricia Rigney Schulin for 51 years. Father of Kelly Schulin Mire (Brian Fogarty) and Shane Schulin (Nicole Madere Schulin). Grandfather of Christian Mire, Cody Mire, Kailey Mire, Nicholas Schulin, Shaina Schulin and Shailee Schulin. Brother of Darlene Brown. Son of the late Annette Gerstner Schulin and Elroy Joseph Schulin. Son-in-law of the late Hugh Francis Rigney and Irma Branigan Rigney (Friend). Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Elden worked in sales at William B. Reily and Sunbeam Bakery before retiring. Mr. Schulin was a member of the Golden Ages Club and the Donut Shop Guys. He loved spending time with his “buddies.” His greatest joy was his six grandchildren. Whether he was watching or coaching a sporting event, rallying with his cheerleaders or attending school functions, “Boo Boo” was always present. The grandchildren would describe their “Boo Boo” as loving, joyful, selfless, comical, supportive and a dancing machine. He will be greatly missed by all his loved ones including Float 13 and several friends he met along the way. Elden will keep a special place in Pat’s heart until they meet again.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Ann Church and National Shrine, 3601 Transcontinental Drive, Metairie, on Friday, November 30, 2018, starting at 10:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 PM. Inurnment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery #1.
