The Rev. Edward Ray Robertson, Jr. died peacefully March 16,2021 from complications of Parkinson’s. His wife Jeanne was at his side. Although he was ill for 2 months, he never lost his sense of humor.
Ed, known as Fr. Ed to many, especially children, served as priest in a number of Episcopal churches before retiring from St John’s in Thibodaux in 2011. He was chaplain to the lower school at St. Martin’s Episcopal School for 8 years in the 1990s. He became so well known for his use of puppets (he’d been given nearly 100) and his children’s sermons, that he was only asked to serve St John’s after assuring them there would be a children’s sermon every week!
After retirement he volunteered at St Paul’s doing children’s chapel on many Sundays until Covid. He was well loved and will be missed by many in the St Paul’s community.
He is predeceased by his parents Marguerite and Edward Ray Robertson, Sr. and his son Trey—Edward Ray Robertson, III.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne Edwards Robertson; daughter Ashley Lissa Jaubert and granddaughter Thalia Riley Jaubert; sisters Judy Wallace and Leslie Todd and brother Charles Chris Robertson.
The funeral will take place at St Paul’s at a date yet to be determined. The family request no flowers, please. In lieu, please make a donation to St Paul’s Episcopal Church or School in his name.
