Dorothy P Miller

December 14, 1924 ~ June 7, 2021 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Tribute

It is with sweet sadness we announce the passing of our mom, Dorothy Pecquet Miller. Sad because of how hard it is to let go of the best Mom and Maw-Mawsie in the world. Sweet because we know her heart is whole again upon meeting her sweet baby James she never met. Mom went to heaven on Monday, June 7, 2021 at the age of 96. She was the devoted wife of our Dad, Wallace R. Miller Sr. who departed 30+ years ago. She was mother of her beloved James Joseph Miller who met Jesus on the same day of his birth and she was grandmother of sweet baby Alexander James Wallace Miller and baby Jeremy Joseph Montalbano who were born as God’s most special angels. Mom is also preceded in death by her mother, Marie Carite Pecquet and father, Adlai C. Pecquet, sisters: Rita Bonis, Naomi Sophio, Janet Lotz, and Emily Jourdan as well as brothers: Adler C. Pecquet and David J. Pecquet. Mom is survived by sisters: Mae Mansour, Marie Helwick, Joyce Kinsley as well as brothers: Danny Pecquet, Wally Pecquet and George Pecquet. Her very special cousin and life-long best friend Irene Funck, also survives mom. Left to forever cherish Mom’s memory are her 8 loving children: Irene Montalbano (Benny), Wally Miller (Eleanor), Danny Miller (Jeanine), Paul Miller (Susie), Ann Kain (Ernie), Lynn Dufrechou (Carlton), Barbara Martinez (Tom), Laurie Lionnet (Ricky). Maw-Mawsie is also survived and will be terribly missed by each of her favorite 20 grandchildren: Cherie Prentiss (John), Michelle Cusimano (Greg), Jamie Foster (Joshua), Scott Miller (Andrea), Patrick Miller (Jai-Anne), Melissa Lassalle (Steve), Ryan Kain, Brandy Miller (Nick), Kristen Kain (Kevin), Tommy Martinez (Crystal), Matthew Lionnet (Libby), Stephen Montalbano (Katie), Paul Montalbano (Rachel), Megan Leonard, Michael Martinez, Jeremy Martinez, Jessica Leonard, Taylor Lionnet (Miranda), Chelsea Larsen (Dillon), and Kaitlyn Kain. And it doesn’t stop here! There are 32 Great Grandchildren and the newest addition of 1 Great Great Grandchild who adored their Mawsie and were blessed to have her in their lives. It is said that everything we need to learn about life, we learned in kindergarten.

For the Miller’s everything about life is learned way before then, because of Mawsie. In earlier years, simple things such as picking pecans and figs from Aunt Corinne’s trees, searching for 4-leaf clovers, swinging on the porch of Castiglione, and in later years learning to make chocolate covered pretzels and learning to play cards from Mawsie are among the most revered memories of all the children. Laurie’s one word to describe Mom is “Nurturer.”

When researched, the word is described as someone who nurtures, protects, supports, encourages, offers food (the best Red Beans), and shows unconditional love. She did it all so well and sometimes she did it with just a deck of cards! She was special to everyone and when asking for one word to describe her, each and every word was the epitome of who she was. Gatherer, Devoted, Selfless, Strong, Beautiful, Loving, Sweet & Caring, Wonderful, Kindhearted and Irreplaceable.

Mom gave her time, which was truly the greatest most priceless gift she gave to all. Through her sacrifices and her Christ-like love, she set a firm foundation for her children and their children and their children and that legacy will go on for many generations to come. Her love knew no boundaries. Every child, grandchild and great grandchild all proclaim to be her favorite! And every one was! Mom’s life will now be celebrated in typical Miller fashion, just as Mom would have loved. She was unwavering in her devotion to her Catholic Faith and her wish was to be celebrated with our Lord and the saints in church.

The family would like to thank Debbie Pelitere for her special friendship and sharing of the Eucharist with Mom. We would also like to thank Deacon Boo who is always there for the most special times for our Miller family.
