Diane McDonald Hudson
September 1, 1953 ~ January 25, 2024 (age 70) 70 Years Old
Diane McDonald Hudson peacefully departed this life on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Slidell Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family at the age of 70. Born on September 1, 1953, Diane was a native and almost lifelong resident of the New Orleans area (except for brief few years when she was a Mississippi girl). A sweet and loving wife, stepmother, sister, daughter, and aunt she was completely devoted to her family and her love of God. She will be forever cherished, remembered, and missed by her devoted husband, Dr. Jerry L Hudson; stepdaughters, Ashley and Heather Hudson; sister, Dr. Elizabeth A. McDonald; niece, Elise Marie McDonald; sisters-in-law, Dr. Janice Hudson Morrison (Dr. John Morrison), Johni Hudson Miles Blount, and Juanita Hudson Witt; brother-in-law, John Glenn Hudson (Peggy); and many loving devoted cousins, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Ellis Larrieu McDonald and Marie Scaffidi McDonald.
Diane graduated from Cabrini High School where she developed many lifelong friendships. She attended Louisiana State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology. After graduation, she worked for 14 years at Charity Hospital in New Orleans as a medical technologist in the neonatal nursery lab. It was at Big Charity that Diane met her loving husband Jerry. Diane and Jerry wed on November 9, 1990 and they were one together in everything for the next 33 plus years. Diane will forever be remembered as a loving, caring, outgoing person who brightened the lives of everyone she came in contact with. She will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until Mass time. Interment will immediately follow the Mass in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA, Best Friends, New Orleans Mission, and Bridge House/Grace House.
