Cherie Lynn Wagner, born on September, 23, 1965 passed away peacefully at her home in Lacombe, Louisiana, on Sunday June 24th 2018 at the age of 52 after a long and courageous battle with Lupus and Renal Failure.
She is preceded in death by her dear brother Richard S. Wagner, her grandmother Lola Legier Maduell who passed away just ten short weeks prior, and by her grandfather Charles Rene Maduell Jr., and her uncle Charles Rene Maduell III.
Cherie leaves behind to cherish her sweet memory her mother Andree' Maduell, whom Cherie worried more about than herself, her sister Nicolle W. Perniciaro who she had always looked after and protected, her brother-in-law Charles Perniciaro Jr., her two nephews Charles Perniciaro III, and Nicolas Perniciaro, her aunt Rita Maduell Huie (Roland), her cousins Laurene Elliott-Deyris (Pierre), Alyssa Elliott (Raphael), Kaylee McMillion, and Arya Ramos, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A special thank you to her uncle Gary Elliott.
Cherie was born September 23, 1965 in Metairie, La. In the early 1980's when Cherie became of age to work she got her first job at Burger King which she was proud of and worked diligently often times walking miles to and from work. Cherie's most treasured years of her life were those spent dancing in The Dance Connection's early inception years and her summers spent at Holly Ho Horse Camp for girls in Picayune, Ms. During this time in her teenage years Cherie was diagnosed with Lupus, an autoimmune disorder which eventually and quickly destroyed her kidneys. She was a Kidney Dialysis patient for well over 30 years. She had a great passion for horses and dogs and loved the color Purple. She will always be remembered as complex and pertinacious.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lawrence Levy for caring for Cherie throughout all those years. Also thank you to her Nephrologist Dr. David Powers, and to all the numerous Doctors, Nurses, and Dialysis teams especially and most recently Jared Bates and his team at Trinity Kidney Center in Slidell for all their care and compassion throughout Cherie's life.
Services for Cherie Lynn Wagner will be held in conjunction with her grandmother Lola Legier Maduell at Greenwood Funeral Home at 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation starting at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Lupus Foundation of America or the National Kidney Foundation.
