Carol Goertz Vignes

September 16, 1942 ~ December 24, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old
Carol Ann Goertz Vignes, surrounded by family, passed away peacefully on Sunday, 24 December 2017, her favorite day of the year. She was born in New Orleans, LA on 16 September 1942 to Pierce and Claire Goertz, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded by brothers Jay and Michael Goertz and Son in law Raymond Volpi. Carol married in November of 1963 and is survived by the love of her life John Paul Vignes. She is also survived by her beloved brother Robert Goertz. She was most proud of and survived by her five children, Stephen Vignes (Jeanice), Todd Vignes (Bobbie), Anne Marie Volpi (Raymond), Timothy Vignes (Eve), Julie Lamy (Tobie). She was a loving Maw Maw to eleven beautiful Grandchildren, Chad, Ian, Seth, Mason, Kelly, Cory, Allee, Emma, Jacob, Sammy Jo, Sophie, and Great Grandson Dylan. In 1962 Carol graduated from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing and dedicated her life to caring for children as a Nurse at Westside Pediatric Clinic in Gretna and later as a nurse for the Jefferson Parish School Board. Devout in her Catholic Faith, Carol was a charter member and Director of the Christ the King Catholic Youth Ministry and longtime Choir member who continued to sing up until her death. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at the Mississippi house in Clermont Harbor, MS where she hosted our annual Family Easter Sunday Crawfish Boil and Fourth of July Celebration. A friend of City Park, she also gathered with her extended family every year for Christmas in the Oaks only to be followed by her favorite celebration of the year, Christmas Eve with the entire family. How appropriate she was able to spend this year with both her family here and her family in Heaven.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the funeral mass and burial on Saturday, 6 January 2018 at Greenwood Funeral Home 5200 Canal Blvd in New Orleans.
