Betty Foley Bowen

Betty Foley Bowen, born January 7, 1932, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2018, one week short of her 87th birthday. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Leo Joseph Bowen, Jr. She is survived by her four children, Beth Bowen Clark (Howard), Danny (Claire Moncrief), Maureen and Peter (Beth); grandchildren Damian Spiess, Renee Clark Baudoin, Matthew Corley, Andrew Clark, Brendan Bowen, Patrick Bowen, and Erin Bowen; and 5 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by two of her sisters, Yvonne Serpas and Kate Warner (Bill), and by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The eighth of nine children born to Willy and Mabel Foley, Betty grew up in the Irish Channel, and graduated from Redemptorist High School. She was totally devoted to her family, and loved being with them at family gatherings, especially on St. Patrick’s Day (which is a bigger celebration than Christmas for the Foley clan).
A lifelong New Orleanian, Betty was a die-hard Saints fan and rarely missed watching one of their games. She almost certainly will be decked out in “heavenly” black and gold and cheering the team on through the upcoming playoffs.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral at St. Mary’s Assumption Church; 923 Josephine St. (Corner of Constance), New Orleans, LA on Saturday, January 5, 2019. Visitation to begin at 10:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Masses or memorial donations to a charity of your choice preferred in lieu of flowers.
