Aurolyn “Lyn” Moreaux Kelly

Aurolyn “Lyn” Moreaux Kelly joined our Lord and her loving husband, Rick, on Thursday, August 11, 2022. Lyn was born July 10, 1951, in New Orleans to Aurolyn “Fuzzy” and Ryan Moreaux. She graduated from Mount Carmel Academy and then went on to study and graduate from the University of New Orleans.

Lyn knew how to find joy in all situations. She laughed and danced her way through life. Her friends and family experienced her ever-present compassion and need to help others. This was truly apparent in her love of children and teaching.  Lyn taught for 40 years, last as principal at Kenner Discovery’s lower school.  Lyn believed that teaching little minds should be fun, and she made sure there was joy, laughter and kindness at school. Her fun-loving educational lessons will be especially missed by her three grandchildren, who affectionally call her “Mimi.” Lyn loved her grandchildren, and was happiest reading them bedtime books- always easily convinced for “just one more book.” 

Beloved by all who knew her, Lyn is survived by her mother, Aurolyn, brother Chip and sister-in-law Yvette; her son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Leigh; her daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and John Nicholson; her grandchildren, Will, Sophie, and Adeline; and her dog, Charlie. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lakeview Christian Center, 5885 Fleur de Lis Dr., New Orleans, LA 70124, on Friday, August 19, 2022. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., and continue until the memorial service at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to
