August Joseph Lucas Jr.

August Joseph Lucas Jr. passed away Friday, February 3, 2023, at the age of 89. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia Rieth Lucas. Father of Peggy Lucas Cresanta (James), Tony Lucas (Lisa Legaux), and Jim Lucas (Lori Sigley). Son of the late August J. Lucas Sr. and Genevieve Giovengo Lucas. Brother of the late Joseph Lucas Sr., Rosemary Lucas Davis, Inez Lucas Rhoto, and Shirley Lucas.

Mr. Lucas was born on September 12, 1933 in New Orleans and lived in Metairie since 1963. August graduated from Redemptorist High School, class of 1952. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Lucas retired from the American Can Company as a Quality Control Inspector.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, on Thursday, February 9, 2023, starting at 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass in the chapel at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
