Anthony John “Tony” Nata, Sr. passed away peacefully with his wife and granddaughter at his side on August 7, 2022, at the age of 77. Tony was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 5, 1945, to the late Reneldear Francis Nata, Sr., and Antoinette Cuccia Nata, both of whom are deceased.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Matherne Nata; son, Jesse Michael Nata, Sr.; grandson, Anthony John Nata, III; granddaughter, Ali Patricia Nata; and brother, George Francis Nata, Sr.
He is survived by his wife Edith Matherne Nata; son, Anthony John Nata, Jr. (Tina); daughter, Antoinette Nata Howell (Howie), grandchildren, Caleb Hogue, Chelsea Howell, Chasity Howell, Christin Howell, Jesse Nata, II, and Hunter Christoffer; great grandchildren, Aiden, Adalynne, Elijah, and Caleb; daughter-in-law, Allison Nata (Sean); brothers, Reneldear “Blue” Nata and Joseph Nata, Sr. (Diane); sisters, Geraldine "Jerry" Jennings and Janice Nata Lee Parrino (Ed); Nine stepchildren, Seventeen step grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Tony was a resident of St. Bernard Parish for 20 years before moving to Slidell. Tony loved being with his family and giving his grandchildren, great grandchildren, or any baby for that matter “smuggas.” To say he loved fishing, is a huge understatement. He truly was a born natural and could catch fish anywhere. He was a kind person who always had a smile on his face. Tony will be greatly missed by all who know and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, on Saturday, August 13, 2022, starting at 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life in the Chapel at 4:00 PM.
