Thomas Francis Meagher, Jr.
Thomas F. Meagher, Jr., 88, passed away in Metairie, LA on December 30, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Francis Meagher, Sr. and Clothilde Tardy Meagher; two sisters, Myrtle Easterling and Jean DiBenedetto.
A beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 66 years. Audrey Dinkel Meagher; his children, Thomas F. Meagher, III (Debbie); daughters, Judy M. Welty (Dennis) and Terry A. Meagher. His grandchildren are Tiffany Betz (Chris); Melissa Calico (Chris); Dennis Welty (Jourdan); Jena Meagher; Thomas Meagher IV and great grandchildren, Brody, Maci, Drew, Cody, Isabella and Finley.
He resided in the New Orleans area throughout his lifetime, and retired in 1986 with Shell Oil Company where worked for 25 years. His career as a Draftsman began with Texaco and Pure Oil Companies. He graduated from Fortier High School and attended Delgado Community College.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter; took pleasure in woodworking and gardening; and in his younger days was involved with Digby Playground where he enjoyed coaching.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 2216 Metairie Road, Metairie on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service to begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans.
