Rosemary Segretto Doll

September 13, 1943 ~ March 26, 2024 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Tribute

Rosemary "Rosie" Doll of Kenner, Louisiana, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at the age of 80. Born Rosemary Segretto in September of 1943, to Sam and Alice Segretto of New Orleans, Louisiana, she was the third of the four Segretto sisters. She graduated from Alcee Fortier High School in 1962 and then married the love of her life David A. Doll in 1963. Rosie was known for her love and dedication to her husband, David; to her family; and to her community.

Mr. Rogers is quoted as saying, “When I was boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ ” Rosie was a helper. She spent her entire life helping others not only as a sister, a wife, a mother, and a friend but also through her careers and volunteerism. Some of the ways she helped others are as follows: She taught herself how to run a printing press and helped her husband run their print shop, Abracadabra. She owned her own domestic cleaning business, Rosie the Maid. When her husband decided to join the Knights of Columbus, she joined him volunteering at the Kenner Knights of Columbus Hall (since 2000). As a parishioner at Saint Jerome Catholic Church (since 1976), she felt the need to volunteer at the church after Katrina. This led to her working for Catholic Charities for several years which then led to her becoming the Coordinator of Our Lady of Divine Providence’s Outreach Ministry and Food Pantry for the past 15 years. Through her work and volunteerism, she became a prayer partner to many including praying with her husband the nine day Surrender Novena twice a month for the last two years. The Kenner Knights of Columbus Hall community already misses her bread pudding as much as her family and friends miss her Uptown NOLA/Lafourche Parish blended accent, her laughter, and her hugs.

Rosie was preceded in death by her children, Robin Ann Doll Satterfield and Michael Anthony Doll, her father Salvadore “Sam” Segretto, mother Alice (Gaudet) Segretto, and sister Shirley (Charlie) House.

She is survived by her loving husband, David, and children: David (Blanca) Doll, Arlene (Ron) Shelton, and Jennifer Doll. Rosie will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Madeleine, Margaret, Alexander, Tate, and Teague. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Gary Satterfield; her sisters Deanie (Harris) Allemand and Gerry (Johnny) Cook; her godchildren Anita Blalock and Brian Cook as well as many other nieces and nephews.

All who loved Rosie are invited to celebrate her life with us. Services will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Saint Jerome Catholic Church, 2402 33rd Street Kenner, LA 70065. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Rosary at 11:30 AM, and Mass at 12:00 PM. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, 5190 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124.
