Kong Wong passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at the age of 89. He is survived by his second wife, Blanca Aida Wong; four children, James Wong (Cynthia), Richard Wong, Sr., Jeanette Wong Gee (Jeff) and Alexander Kalogeropoulos (Michelle); one brother, Charles Tong; 13 grandchildren, Zoe W. Borden, Rachel W. Mangin, Richard Wong Jr., Elizabeth Wong Owens, Jamie Wong, Stephanie Wong, Joseph Gee, Jacob Kong Gee, Andrea Kalogeropoulos, Katie Kalogeropoulos, Krissy Kalogeropoulos, Shannon Foss and Josh Franulovich; 19 great grandchildren, Nate E. Borden, Zoe E. Borden, William Mangin, Juniper Wong, Ada Wong, Enid Wong, Isabelle Owens, Austin Owens, Luke Owens, Will Owens, Kamari Wong, Myles Wong, Aida Wong, Riley Fandino, Dominic Fandino, Niko Fandino, Cody Smith, Mason Smith and Zayden Solar. Mr. Wong was preceded in death by his first wife, Duk Chae Wong; his daughter, Joanne Wong; his parents, Lai F. Wong and Yee Shee Wong; two brothers, Sam D. Kang and Harry Wong.
Mr. Wong proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He received his bachelor’s degree from Tulane University. Mr. Wong retired from the Port of New Orleans as a Civil Engineer and was a member of the Chinese Presbyterian Church.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, on Saturday, December 16, 2017, starting at 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1:00 PM.
